Social work students association of Loyola College of social sciences Thiruvananthapuram (SALT) is a student body comprising of all student members of the Department of social work, Loyola College of Social Sciences, Thiruvananthapuram. It is the Loyola College Unit of the All Kerala Social Work Students Association (AKKSA).
The aim is the integral development of its members as committed social workers through participation in the various programmes within and outside the classroom.
Specific objectives of the Association
SALT has a general body comprising the entire social work student community of first and second-year MSW classes and Executive Committee consists of nine members namely, President (II year), Vice-President (I year), Secretary(II year), Joint-Secretary (I year), Treasurer (II year), two executive Committee members each from first and second years and one/two staff advisors from the Department staff l guide the activities.
The minimum of one General Body meeting is held in a semester to plan and execute various activities. Executive Committee meetings are held once in a month. Election is held every year, one month from the commencement of classes for the first years. Office bearers are elected from the general body through nomination from the body. If there is more than one name for a post, the election is held through a secret ballot.
Staff advisors, a Faculty member of the Social Work Department assigned by the staff council direct the activities, monitor financial activities, rejuvenate the council if it ceases functioning and makes sure that the activities of the association do not clash with the common activities of the college.
The formal inauguration and launching of SALT were held on 3rd August 2010 Justice D. Sreedevi, the chairperson of Kerala women’s commission.
Loyola Association of Management Professionals and Students (LAMPS) is a student initiative, instigating activities that are essential to learn the brand of Loyola management professionals. The association is truly dedicated to facilitate the exchange of information between students and alumni, academia, industry experts, professionals associations, business partners and community. It aims to develop, promote and help students to excel in the professional realm. We strive to accomplish this aim through hosting a series of events throughout the academic year.

OBJECTIVES:
Loyola Association of Counselling Psychology Students(LACS)is a platform for students to build up leadership skills, to develop a broad network by collaborating with various knowledge domains (education, medical, health, community etc.).The association came into being on 19/8/2019 with the vision of providing opportunities for students to indulge into the community by confidently contributing their best to achieve positive change. It aspires to achieve the highest quality postgraduate training experience for the next generation of expert practitioners and visionary leaders in psychology. As a student association LACSis enthusiastic in conditioning values to students undergoing the course of MSc Counselling Psychology in Loyola such as integrity, empathy, respect, leadership and professionalism etc.Students are given enormous opportunities to augment their development towards a career in psychology and to shape the prospect of the discipline.
LACS is the voice of the future generation experts in having a positive impact on the society; This is implemented by consistently mounting awareness programs to the society, providing research orientation through journal clubs and organizing various workshops to enrich their knowledge by interacting with experts in the field.
Membership: Students undergoing the MSc Counselling Psychology course in Loyola College of Social Sciences automatically become a member of this association. The governing body involves two faculty coordinators, two student coordinators and Head of the department.
